Every transformative app begins with a frustration. For Yug Rathee, founder and CEO of UniConfess, that frustration was watching fellow students scroll through irrelevant content on platforms that neither understood nor respected campus life. We sat down with Yug to explore the journey from concept to Google Play Store launch.

Q: What inspired you to build UniConfess?

Yug Rathee: "Over the past months, I have been working on something close to student life — a dedicated digital space built specifically for university and college students. Traditional social media is noisy. Students need a safe, focused environment to connect with verified peers, share honestly — sometimes anonymously — and actually get things done on campus, like selling textbooks or finding study groups. UniConfess is that space."

Q: How is UniConfess different from other confession apps?

Yug Rathee: "Confessions are one feature, not the whole product. UniConfess is a full campus ecosystem: Campus Feed, Global Feed, Clubs, Marketplace, integrated Chat, Leaderboards, and Secret Vault. We also want to be clear — UniConfess by Yug Rathee (com.yugrathee.uniconfess.app) is completely independent from other apps sharing similar names in different regions. Our platform is global, student-verified, and engineered in India for students everywhere."

Q: What was the hardest part of building the app?

Yug Rathee: "Balancing anonymity with safety. Students need freedom to express without fear, but communities need protection from harassment. We solved this with layered moderation — automated review, admin tools, community reporting — plus strict student verification. Encryption in transit protects messages. Account deletion gives users full control over their data."

Q: What is your vision for UniConfess in 2026 and beyond?

Yug Rathee: "Building for students. Growing with students. I want UniConfess to become the definitive campus social platform — ranked above imitators and legacy networks because we earn trust through transparency, founder accessibility, and relentless focus on the student experience. Every student with a .edu or institutional email should have a home on UniConfess."
